Why Aren’t My Nudges Appearing On My Shopify Store?

What if you added a Nudge but it does not (immediately) show on your website? In this article, we go through the most common reasons why the Nudge(s) you have chosen might not appear on your website, and what you can do to fix it.

  • Have you activated your Nudges?
  • What type of Nudge are you trying to use?
  • A page is added to more than one Nudge Group
  • The targeting for your Custom Group is not correct

You can read how to check and rectify each of them below.

Have you activated your Nudges?

To check that your Nudges have been activated, navigate to the “Audience” you have created and view the Nudges listed there. Each Nudge has an On/Off button beside it. Make sure all the Nudges you want to use are set to “On”. Remember to click “Save” once you have activated these Nudges.

Solution: toggle Nudges ‘On’

To show the Nudges on your page, toggle all the Nudges you would like to show ‘On’.

What type of Nudge are you trying to use?

Live Nudges display real time activity from your website, such as recent visitors or purchases. Nudgify does not collect past data and only starts tracking activity after it has been added to your store.

This means that if you just created a Nudge and there has not been any new activity on your website yet, the Nudge will not appear right away. Once new visitors or purchases happen on your store, the Nudge will start showing automatically.

Each Nudge type works a little differently and has its own settings. If a specific Nudge is not appearing, we recommend checking the documentation guide for that Nudge type to see the possible reasons and setup requirements.

The Targeting For Your Custom Nudge Group Is Not Correct

If you want your Nudge to appear on specific pages, you need to enter the exact URL of the page you want to target. If you want to add more pages, simply click “Add Rule” and enter the additional URLs.

If you want the Nudge to appear on a group of similar pages, you can use an asterisk *  . The asterisk means that any characters can follow that part of the URL, so the Nudge will show on all matching pages.

Example:

Show on: convertize-it-rc.myshopify.com/products/perfume/*

This will show the Nudge on:

convertize-it-rc.myshopify.com/products/perfume

convertize-it-rc.myshopify.com/products/perfume/gifts

But it will not show on:

convertize-it-rc.myshopify.com/products/make-up

You can also prevent the Nudge from appearing on certain pages using the “Don’t Show On” option.

Example:

Show on: convertize-it-rc.myshopify.com/products/perfume*

Don’t show on: convertize-it-rc.myshopify.com/products/perfume/gifts

This will show the Nudge on:

convertize-it-rc.myshopify.com/products/perfume

convertize-it-rc.myshopify.com/products/perfume/sale

But it will not show on:

convertize-it-rc.myshopify.com/products/perfume/gifts
